Education is so important to all generations and we bee-lieve it should be fun and engaging!
With over 20 years experience in environmental education, Backyard Bees Ltd. provides educational workshops for all ages and abilities, all based around the incredible pollinator that is the HONEY BEE!
Focussing on the Curriculum for Excellence, we can visit your school, offering topics focussing on beekeeping, the Queen bee, beeswax, social insects, honey extraction and various craft workshops. Learn the importance of the honey bee and an array of subjects all linked to this incredible little insect.
We provide interesting and interactive workshops and hive demonstrations, catering to all ages and abilities, including primary schools, high schools, colleges, youth clubs, women's institute gatherings and similar organisations.
During the spring and summer months we can even bring the honey bees directly to you so you can see them working away in a safe environment, in our observation hive!
Covering the Lanarkshire and Glasgow area, our talks and demonstrations are tailored to your needs, from 1 hour sessions to half day/full day workshops, showing how the bee hive works and how the honey and wax is made. Pupils can dress up as a bee keeper and experience what beekeeping life is like, without the danger of getting stung!
We can include honey tasting from various hives as part of your workshop too...yum!
